The Modrn Company is a boutique event and wedding design firm that provides concierge style, full-service event planning, design, and coordination.

 What training & certification do you have? 

The Modrn Company’s CEO and Creative Director, Ashley Davidson, holds a degree in Psychology, a post-graduate degree (with honors) in International Development, an MBA essentials program certificate from Rotman, and is a certified designer and wedding consultant with the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada (WPIC). Ashley has an extensive background in events and strategic planning for wedding couples, private companies, Non-Governmental Organizations and non-profits across Canada, the United States, and elsewhere around the world. 

The Modrn Company team is composed of several qualified members who have worked in various events roles, such as events manager in a major luxury hotel for 15+ years, in addition to other members organizing large scale events in Montreal and the entire Okanagan region.

Do you offer different packages?

Yes.  Our Modrn Signature Service is a complete concierge service best if you value your time and are looking to enjoy the entire experience leading up to and on your wedding day. With our team providing a simple planning process, we present the best suppliers suited to your wedding budget and style, so you can sit back and relax while we make it all reality. Suitable for weddings of all sizes (including elopements), the focus will be on creating your tailored wedding experience. 

Our Design and Coordination Service begins approximately 6 to 8 months before your planned wedding date. As certified design experts, we take your already secured logistical suppliers (such as, venue, transportation, and catering contracts along with arrangements made with your cake baker and musicians) and apply our signature design and management processes to bring those groups together as one cohesive team all serving your needs and wants.  Far beyond colour palettes and themes, we focus on your likes, dislikes, style, and personal preferences when curating your wedding experience, a perfect balance between beauty and function, we ensure all the fine details are cared for and that you immerse yourself in the celebration that is your wedding day. 

How long have you been planning weddings?

The Modrn Company has been planning weddings since 2017 after more than a decade of international event experience planning non-profit and corporate events around the world. 

Do you have any favourite venues and caterers?

Absolutely! In our Okanagan market, we are very impressed with 50th Parallel Estate Winery, a dream destination wedding location for our clients coming from across the country. For higher-end boutique weddings and events, CedarCreek Estate Winery and Hotel Eldorado, and in the South Okanagan, 19Bistro@Fitz are favourites and of course the iconic Mission Hill Family Estate Winery as a special venue for our corporate client events.

We partner with venues that meet several important criteria for our clients, including preferring partners that have an experienced in-house chef and catering that are comparable to those found in world-class destinations.

We also look for venues that exemplify the best of their respective regions. How far in advance are you booking? 

For those seeking our fulsome Modrn Signature Service, it is best to book about 12 to 18 months in advance.  Alternatively, for those seeking our Design and Coordination service booking between 6 to 8 months in advance of the wedding or event day is ideal. 

Will you be present on my wedding day? 

Yes, of course!

We have an in-house planning and design team that works with you from start to finish, which includes our Production and Coordination Team who will be on-site with you to bring the entire vision to life, while you enjoy and watch it all unfold. 

Do you have any advice for engaged couples that you can share?
